Marshmallows

🌱 Vegetarian

Description

Marshmallows are soft, fluffy sweets with a subtly sweet, vanilla flavor and a smooth, matte surface, usually white or pastel, cut into cubes or shaped into various forms. They are light and springy, melting quickly in the mouth upon biting, providing a pleasant combination of sugar and gelatinous texture. Nutritionally, marshmallows are mainly a source of simple carbohydrates and calories — 100 g contains about 300–350 kcal, with a high sugar content, little protein and fat, and negligible vitamins and minerals. The gelatin present may support collagen intake, but health benefits are limited; they should be consumed in moderation, especially for those with diabetes. Culinary uses for marshmallows are wide-ranging: they are perfect for cocoa, s’mores, casseroles, baking, and decorating desserts, as well as for making sauces or creams when melted. To maintain freshness, store marshmallows in an airtight container in a dry, cool place away from moisture; they can also be frozen for longer periods, layering them with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
