Shelled, salted pistachios
Description
Shelled, salted pistachios have an intense, slightly buttery and nutty flavor with a distinct salty note and a pleasant crunch. Their flesh is light green with purplish streaks, fine and uniform, making them an attractive visual and flavor addition to many dishes. They are a concentrated source of monounsaturated fatty acids, protein, fiber, vitamin B6, and minerals such as potassium, magnesium, and copper, as well as antioxidants. Regular, moderate consumption may support lipid profiles, feelings of fullness, and the overall nutritional value of the diet, although salting increases sodium content, which should be taken into account. Pistachios are perfect as a snack, an addition to salads, pesto, sweet desserts and baked goods, as well as an ingredient in breading or stuffing. Store them tightly sealed in a cool, dark place; in the refrigerator, they will stay fresh for several months, and in the freezer for about a year.
