Oats (mountain / regular)
Description
Oat flakes (mountain/regular) have a mild, slightly nutty flavor and a creamy color, with a thicker, uneven texture in the mountain version and a slightly finer texture in the regular one. They are naturally delicate, soften when cooked, while maintaining a pleasant, slightly firm consistency. They are a rich source of complex carbohydrates, soluble fiber (beta-glucans), plant protein, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron, magnesium, and zinc, which support satiety, stabilize blood glucose levels, promote heart health, and aid gut function. In the kitchen, oat flakes work well in porridge, smoothies, baked goods, granolas, pancakes, and as a thickener for soups or vegetarian patties; they easily combine with fruits, nuts, and spices. They should be stored in a dry, cool place, in an airtight container away from light and moisture; for longer storage, it is advisable to keep them in the refrigerator or freezer to maintain freshness and aroma.
