Raisins
Description
Raisins are dried grapes with a sweet, concentrated flavor and a soft, slightly chewy texture; their color ranges from golden to dark brown depending on the variety and drying method. They are a calorie-dense but nutritious product — providing easily digestible carbohydrates (sugars), fiber, potassium, iron, and antioxidants (polyphenols), as well as small amounts of B vitamins. Due to their fiber and mineral content, they can support digestion and quickly replenish energy during activity, but it is worth considering their energy density when planning a diet. In the kitchen, raisins pair perfectly with muesli, yogurts, baked goods, salads, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes, as well as meat sauces and pilafs, adding sweetness and texture; before use, they can be soaked to become juicier. They should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, and for longer freshness, it is advisable to keep them in the refrigerator or freezer, protecting them from moisture and foreign odors.
