Cream cheese
Description
Cream cheese is a soft, smooth cheese with a uniform, creamy consistency and a light cream color, with a mildly tangy, buttery, mild flavor. It spreads easily and combines well with other ingredients, maintaining a velvety texture after mixing. Nutritionally, it is a source of protein, calcium, and vitamin A, but it also has a relatively high content of saturated fats and calories, so it is best consumed in moderation. It works well as a base for spreads and dips, an ingredient in cheesecakes, creamy sauces, toppings, and fillings, as well as in desserts and savory sandwiches — it pairs wonderfully with herbs, smoked salmon, or fruits. Store in the refrigerator tightly closed, preferably in its original packaging or container, using it within about 7–10 days of opening. It can be frozen in emergency situations, but the texture may change after thawing, so it is better to use it for cooking rather than as a spread.
