Heavy cream
Description
Heavy cream is a thick, creamy dairy product with a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and a pearly white color, usually available with a fat content of 30–36%, which gives it a velvety texture and good whipping ability. In 100 g, it provides about 330–370 kcal, is rich in saturated fats, contains a small amount of protein and lactose, as well as fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) and calcium; it is a concentrated source of energy and helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, but it should be consumed in moderation due to its high fat content. Heavy cream is perfect for whipping for desserts and cakes, thickening sauces, cream soups, preparing pasta sauces, casseroles, and as an addition to coffee and desserts. Store in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2–6°C, in the original packaging or an airtight container; after opening, it is best used within 3–5 days. Freezing may change the texture and worsen the whipping ability, so for decorative purposes, it is recommended to use fresh, well-chilled heavy cream.
