Coconut cream
Description
Coconut cream is a thick, creamy liquid with a white to slightly creamy color and a distinct, sweet aroma of coconut; its consistency can be homogeneous or separated into a thicker fatty part and water. Its flavor is intensely coconut, rich, and slightly buttery, making it an excellent substitute for cow's cream in both sweet and savory dishes. Nutritionally, coconut cream is calorie-dense and rich in fats, primarily saturated MCTs (e.g., lauric acid), and it also provides trace amounts of minerals such as manganese, copper, and iron, and is lactose-free, making it suitable for those on a vegan or dairy-free diet. In the kitchen, it is used in curries, soups, sauces, desserts, smoothies, ice creams, and creams, as well as a base for vegan whipped creams; it gives dishes a creamy consistency and an exotic aroma. It should be stored in a dry, cool place in a tightly sealed container; once opened, keep it in the refrigerator in a closed container and use within a few days, and for longer storage, it can be frozen.
