Salt for cooking pasta
Description
Cooking salt for pasta is usually coarse kitchen salt or sea salt with a crystalline, typically white color and a clean, salty taste that enhances the flavors of dishes without overpowering them. It is virtually calorie-free, mainly composed of sodium chloride, which as an essential electrolyte participates in regulating fluid balance and nerve conduction, although excess sodium can contribute to hypertension, so moderate use is recommended. In the kitchen, cooking salt for pasta is primarily used to salt boiling water before adding the pasta, which improves the flavor and texture of the pasta, but it also works well for cooked vegetables, potatoes, and most sauces. It should be stored in a dry, airtight container, away from moisture and strong odors, in a cool place.
