Fine salt
Description
Fine salt is a white, crystalline powder with a distinct salty taste and fine granulation, quickly dissolving in dishes. Chemically, it is mainly sodium chloride, often enriched with iodine, providing essential sodium and possibly iodine necessary for electrolyte balance, nerve conduction, and proper muscle and thyroid function; however, its intake should be limited due to the risk of hypertension with excess. In the kitchen, fine salt works well as a universal seasoning during cooking, baking, preparing sauces, marinades, and brines, as it dissolves quickly and seasons evenly. It should be stored in a sealed, dry container in a cool place away from moisture and direct heat, using a dry spoon and monitoring the amount added to dishes.
