Fresh cilantro
Description
Fresh coriander has light green, delicate leaves and thin stems with a distinct citrus-herb aroma and a hint of peppery-nutty flavor; its taste can be intense and characteristic for some. It is a source of vitamins A, C, and K, folic acid, and antioxidants, and may support digestion, have anti-inflammatory effects, and boost immunity while providing trace elements with a low calorie count. Coriander pairs well with Asian, Mexican, and Mediterranean cuisines; it is used in salsas, chutneys, soups, salads, marinades, and as a fresh garnish just before serving, especially in combination with lime, garlic, or chili. To maintain freshness, store the bunch in a glass of water in the refrigerator or wrap it in a damp paper towel; you can also freeze chopped coriander in oil cubes for longer use.
