Fresh dill (for decoration)
Description
Fresh dill has delicate, feathery leaves of a light green color and an intense, fresh aroma with subtle hints of anise and citrus. As a garnish, it adds lightness and a visually fresh touch to dishes while enhancing flavor without overwhelming it. It pairs classically with fish, potatoes, eggs, soups, salads, yogurt or cream-based sauces, as well as dishes from Scandinavian and Mediterranean cuisine. Dill is low in calories and provides vitamins A, C, and K, along with small amounts of folic acid and minerals such as calcium and iron, as well as antioxidants with anti-inflammatory properties. For storage, it's best to wrap washed dill in a damp paper towel and place it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, or to stand the stems in water like a bouquet, changing the water every 1-2 days; it can also be quickly frozen or dried for longer storage.
