Coffee beans
Description
Coffee beans are the dried seeds of Coffea shrubs, which take on a shiny, dark brown color and intense aroma after roasting. The flavor is dominated by bitter and acidic notes, which, depending on the variety and roast level, transition into tones of chocolate, nuts, fruits, or flowers. The texture of ground beans is loose and oily with a dark roast. Nutritionally, the beans mainly provide caffeine and bioactive compounds, such as antioxidants (chlorogenic acids), as well as trace amounts of minerals. Moderate consumption may improve alertness, physical performance, and metabolism, and is associated with a lower risk of certain metabolic diseases. In the kitchen, the beans are suitable not only for brewing (espresso, drip, cold brew) but also as an addition to desserts, meat seasonings, liqueurs, and sauces. To preserve the aroma, store whole beans in an airtight, opaque container in a cool, dry place and grind just before use; avoid the refrigerator if you use them frequently.
