Ground hazelnuts
Description
Ground hazelnuts are a finely textured, light brown powder with a creamy, slightly oily consistency and an intense, sweet-nutty aroma with hints of butter and a delicate bitterness. They have a rich, sweet, and pleasantly roasted flavor, which adds depth to baked goods and desserts. They are a source of monounsaturated fats, protein, fiber, vitamin E, B vitamins, and minerals such as magnesium, copper, and manganese, as well as antioxidants, which support heart health, cholesterol control, satiety, and skin condition. They pair well with cakes, cookies, creams, pralines, muesli, pesto, salads, and smoothies; they can be used as a coating or thickener for sauces. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dark place; ground nuts spoil faster, so it's best to keep them in the refrigerator (up to ~3 months) or freeze them (up to 6–12 months).
