Then dry it with a paper towel and cut it into slices about 0.5 cm thick. Peel a piece of ginger using a small knife or the edge of a teaspoon (this is a very effective method) and slice it thinly.

Its base is naturally cloudy apple juice, which is slowly cooked with a bouquet of aromatic spices: cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Freshness and a citrus note are added by slices of juicy orange, while slices of fresh ginger contribute a slightly spicy character. An optional addition of a sprig of rosemary introduces a surprising, forest-like note that beautifully complements the sweetness of the apples. Visually, the drink is stunning: it has a deep amber color, and in clear mugs, the fruits and spices submerged in it are beautifully visible. It is perfect for chilly evenings, gatherings with friends, or as a festive drink for the whole family, including children. Serve it hot, garnished with fresh additions, to fully enjoy its taste and appearance.

Preparation steps
In a large pot, place all the spices: cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Add the sliced orange and ginger. If using, also add a sprig of fresh rosemary now. Pour in 1 liter of cloudy apple juice. Gently stir with a wooden spoon to evenly distribute the ingredients.
Place a pot on medium heat and slowly warm the drink. Your goal is to bring it to the point where it is very hot, but NOT BOILING. Watch the liquid – when small bubbles start to appear at the edges of the pot and intense steam rises from the surface, reduce the heat to the minimum. Leave the mulled drink on low heat for about 20-25 minutes to allow the flavors and aromas of the spices to release and infuse into the juice.
After 20-25 minutes, remove the pot from the heat. Now it's time to add the sweetness. Measure out the honey and add it to the hot drink. Stir slowly until the honey is completely dissolved. Taste the mulled wine, and if you prefer a sweeter flavor, add a little more honey. Remember that apple juice is already sweet on its own.
Prepare mugs or glasses made of thick glass. Using a ladle, carefully pour the hot drink into the vessels. You can strain it through a sieve beforehand for clarity, but it looks much more impressive served with spices and fruits. Place a slice of orange from the cooking into each mug; you can also add a fresh one for better appearance. Optionally, for decoration and flavor, toss in a few fresh cranberries. Serve immediately while hot.

Serve the mulled wine in thick glass mugs or ceramic cups that retain heat well. For maximum visual effect, garnish each serving with a fresh slice of orange, optionally studded with a few cloves, a small sprig of rosemary, and a few fresh cranberries that will beautifully float on the surface.
If you have leftover mulled wine, strain it from the spices and fruits, then store it in the refrigerator in a sealed jar or pitcher for up to 3 days. Before serving again, heat it over low heat, but be careful not to bring it back to a boil.
