Fresh pineapple
Description
Fresh pineapple is a juicy fruit with an intense, sweet-tart flavor and a characteristic rough, brown-golden skin topped with green leaves; the flesh is light yellow, aromatic, and shiny. It is rich in vitamin C, fiber, and manganese, contains the enzyme bromelain with anti-inflammatory and digestive-supporting properties, as well as antioxidants, which support immunity, bone health, and the digestive system with moderate calorie intake. In the kitchen, fresh pineapple is suitable for fruit and vegetable salads, salsas, smoothies, desserts, and when grilled, it pairs well with meat (e.g., chicken or ham), seafood, cocktails, and spices like lime or chili. An uncut pineapple ripens at room temperature; once cut, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days, and it can also be frozen in portions.
