Chrzan tarty ostry
Description
Grated horseradish is a moist, creamy-white paste with an intense, sharp aroma and a spicy, eye-watering flavor that quickly hits the nose and transitions into slightly bitter, spicy notes. The pronounced sharpness comes from sulfur compounds (isothiocyanates) that warm and cleanse the taste buds, giving dishes character. The product is low in calories, rich in vitamin C, and contains phytochemical compounds with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that may support digestion and act as an expectorant during colds. In the kitchen, grated horseradish pairs well with red meats, cold cuts, fish, eggs, sauces, and dips, as well as being a great addition to salads and marinades; it can be mellowed with cream or vinegar for a gentler flavor. It should be stored in an airtight jar in the refrigerator, away from light; when well-sealed, it will stay fresh for several weeks, and portions can be frozen in cubes for longer storage.
