Thick natural yogurt
Description
Thick natural yogurt has a delicate, slightly sour taste and a creamy, uniform consistency with a light white color that holds its shape well when served. It is a source of protein, calcium, B vitamins, and minerals such as potassium, and the probiotic bacteria it contains support gut flora, digestion, and a feeling of fullness, which aids in weight control and bone health. In the kitchen, it works well as a base for sauces, dips, dressings, and spreads, an addition to muesli, smoothies, desserts, and baking, as well as a substitute for cream or mayonnaise in lighter recipes. It should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of about 2–6°C, tightly sealed to avoid contamination; once opened, it is best consumed within 5–7 days, and freezing may worsen its consistency.
