Smoked salmon
Description
Smoked salmon has a delicate, buttery flavor with a distinct hint of smoke and subtle saltiness, and its appearance is an intense orange-pink color in thin, shiny slices with marbling of fat. It is a source of high-quality protein and valuable omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), providing vitamins D and B12 as well as selenium, which supports heart, brain, and immune system health, has anti-inflammatory properties, and enhances the feeling of fullness. In the kitchen, smoked salmon pairs wonderfully with cream cheese, dill, and lemon, on sandwiches and bagels, in salads, spreads, tartares, or breakfast dishes and appetizers. It should be stored in the refrigerator in its original vacuum packaging or an airtight container at a temperature of 0–4°C and consumed within 2–3 days after opening; it can also be frozen for 2–3 months, thawing it in the cold and avoiding refreezing.
