Fresh marjoram
Description
Fresh marjoram is a delicate, light green herb with small, soft leaves and a pleasantly sweet-spicy, slightly citrus aroma, milder than oregano. It contains vitamins A, C, and K, as well as minerals such as iron and calcium, and essential oils with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that support digestion and may alleviate stomach discomfort. In the kitchen, fresh marjoram pairs perfectly with meat dishes (especially pork and lamb), sausages, tomato sauces, soups, bean dishes, eggs, and salads, and is often used as a finishing herb. Store it unwashed, wrapped in a damp paper towel in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use it within 5–7 days, or freeze chopped in oil or water in ice cubes for longer storage.
