Wheat flour (crumb topping)
Description
Wheat flour intended for crumble has a delicate, slightly sweet flavor and a light beige, finely granulated appearance, which, when crushed, creates a loose, easily crumbling texture ideal for sprinkling on baked goods. Its neutral aroma enhances the taste of fruits and butter without overpowering the rest of the composition. Nutritionally, it is mainly a source of carbohydrates and a certain amount of protein, as well as small amounts of fiber and trace elements; the whole grain version contains more B vitamins and minerals. In the kitchen, it is primarily used for crumble, small cookies, toppings, tarts, thickening fillings, and for breading. It should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, away from light; for longer storage, it is advisable to keep it in the refrigerator or freezer to prevent the fats from going rancid and to avoid pest invasion.
