Ground black pepper
Description
Ground black pepper has an intense, peppery aroma with a warm, slightly bitter, and spicy note; it appears as a fine, dark gray powder, with the most pronounced scent when freshly ground. From a nutritional standpoint, it is low in calories and contains phytochemical compounds, primarily piperine, as well as antioxidants that aid digestion, have anti-inflammatory properties, and improve the bioavailability of certain nutrients. In the kitchen, ground black pepper is extremely versatile: it enhances the flavor of meats, soups, sauces, salads, eggs, and vegetable dishes, and is used in marinades and seasoning hot dishes. For the best aroma, it is advisable to grind the seeds just before use. Store in a tightly sealed container, in a dry, cool, and dark place, away from moisture and light.
