Hungarian plums
Description
Hungarian plums are juicy, medium-sized fruits with a deep burgundy-purple skin and a golden-pink, sweet-tart flesh that combines intense sweetness with pleasant acidity. They have a distinct fruity aroma and a smooth texture when baked or stewed, making them an appealing addition to both sweet and savory dishes. Plums are low in calories and provide vitamins C and K, potassium, fiber, and antioxidants, while the sorbitol and pectins they contain support proper digestion and bowel regulation. In the kitchen, they work well fresh in desserts and salads, stewed for compotes, preserves, jams, and cakes, dried as prunes for snacks, as well as in sauces and marinades for meats. Store in a cool place, do not wash before storing, ripe specimens are best kept in the fridge in a perforated bag and used within a few days; they can also be frozen after pitting or dried for longer storage.
