Sour cream 18%
Description
Sour cream 18% is a creamy, smooth product with a slightly sour, fresh taste and a light beige color, giving dishes a delicate, velvety texture. It is made by fermenting cream with milk cultures, which gives it a subtly tangy aroma and pleasant thickness. From a nutritional standpoint, it provides energy from fat, a certain amount of protein, calcium, and vitamin A; it also helps in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, although it should be used in moderation due to its calorie content. In the kitchen, 18% sour cream works well as an addition to soups, sauces, dips, and dressings, as a creamy topping for dumplings, potatoes, or pancakes, and for gentle baking and roasting at moderate heating, avoiding boiling to prevent curdling. It should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 2–7°C, in its original, sealed packaging; once opened, it is best used within 3–5 days and always check the expiration date.
