Flaky sea salt
Description
Sea salt flakes are delicate, irregular, translucent flakes with a light, often slightly pearlescent hue and a clean, salty, ocean flavor with a subtle hint of minerals; their crunchy texture adds a contrast of texture to dishes and allows the aromas to shine without overwhelming them. Nutritionally, it is mainly sodium chloride with trace amounts of magnesium, potassium, and calcium, which provides electrolytes, but it should be used sparingly due to its sodium content; as a finishing salt, it enhances the perception of flavor, allowing for less usage than table salt. It is suitable for finishing fish, meat, salads, grilled vegetables, bread, sauces, and desserts such as chocolate or caramel. Store in a sealed, dry container away from moisture and strong odors, at room temperature; add just before serving to maintain crunchiness.
