Cold water
Description
Cold water has a neutral, fresh taste and a crystal-clear appearance; its refreshing chill enhances the feeling of freshness and quenches thirst without adding flavors or calories. In its mineral version, it may contain subtle mineral notes, but it essentially remains sensory neutral and odorless. Nutritionally, water provides no calories or macronutrients, yet it is essential for proper hydration, thermoregulation, nutrient transport, kidney function, and supporting digestion and concentration. In the kitchen, cold water is useful for drinking, extinguishing, diluting, cooling cakes and vegetables after blanching, preparing confectionery and dough, and in processes requiring rapid cooling. It should be stored in clean, airtight containers, preferably in the refrigerator when low temperatures are needed, avoiding exposure to sunlight and regularly replacing the contents; when in doubt, use filtered or bottled water.
