Boiled beetroot
Description
Boiled beetroot has a sweet-earthy flavor and a velvety, slightly soft texture; its intense, burgundy-purple color can slightly stain other ingredients when cut. It is low in calories, rich in fiber, folic acid, vitamin C, potassium, and natural nitrates, which can support circulation and blood pressure regulation. It also contains antioxidants from the betalain group, which have anti-inflammatory and detoxifying effects, making it a valuable component of a balanced diet. In the kitchen, boiled beetroot works well in salads, soups (e.g., borscht), purées, dips, as an addition to dishes with goat cheese, nuts, citrus fruits, or balsamic vinegar, as well as in sandwiches and smoothies. It can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3–5 days; it can also be cut and frozen for several months. Before longer storage, it is advisable to cool it completely to preserve its flavor and texture.
