Chicken egg (size M)
Description
A medium chicken egg (approx. 53–63 g) has a subtle, slightly salty flavor and a smooth, usually white or cream-colored shell; the yolk can range from light yellow to deeper orange depending on the hen's diet, with a creamy consistency when cooked. It is a versatile ingredient that gives dishes a rich, velvety character and pleasant texture. A medium egg provides about 65–75 kcal, 6–7 g of high-quality protein, and 4–6 g of fat, and is also a source of vitamins A, D, B12, riboflavin, choline, selenium, and lutein, which support vision, cognitive functions, and muscle recovery. In the kitchen, it is suitable for hard and soft boiling, scrambled eggs, omelets, baking, mayonnaise, sauces, and as a binding or breading ingredient. It is best to store eggs in the refrigerator in their original packaging, pointed end down, do not wash before storing, and use within 3–4 weeks.
