Natural yogurt
Description
Natural yogurt has a smooth, creamy consistency and a white color, with a mildly sour, fresh taste that can be milder in full-fat versions. It may contain a small amount of whey on the surface, which is natural and does not affect quality. It is a good source of protein, calcium, B vitamins, and probiotic cultures that support gut flora, digestion, the immune system, and bone health; fat-free versions reduce calorie content while maintaining nutritional value. In the kitchen, it works well as a base for smoothies, dips, sauces, and dressings, an addition to muesli, bread, marinades, and cakes, as well as a substitute for cream or mayonnaise. It should be stored in the refrigerator at 2–7°C in a tightly closed container, best used within a few days of opening, not frozen, and mixed before use.
