Fresh dill (chopped)
Description
Fresh dill (chopped) has a delicate, slightly anise-like and sweet flavor, along with light green, feathery leaves that add freshness and aroma to dishes when chopped. Visually, it enlivens meals with small, soft strands of leaves, and its scent is subtle and pleasant. Nutritionally, dill provides few calories and is a source of vitamins A, C, and K, folic acid, and minerals such as potassium and iron; it also contains phenolic compounds with antioxidant properties. Regular use supports the immune system, proper blood clotting, and digestion. In the kitchen, dill pairs well with fish, seafood, soups, yogurt sauces, salads, and egg dishes, as well as with potatoes and cottage cheese. To prolong freshness, store chopped dill wrapped in a slightly damp paper towel in a closed container in the refrigerator and use it within 3–5 days; for longer storage, freeze portions in ice cube trays with water or oil.
