Tiger prawns
Description
Tiger prawns are characterized by their delicate, slightly sweet flavor and firm, juicy texture. Raw, they have a gray-blue color with distinctive stripes, and when cooked, they turn pink-orange while retaining their juiciness, making them an impressive addition to dishes both visually and in taste. They are an excellent source of lean protein, low in calories and fat, yet rich in iodine, selenium, vitamin B12, and omega-3 fatty acids, which support thyroid function, the immune system, and cardiovascular health; they also contain cholesterol, so it is worth considering this in the diet of individuals with restrictions. Tiger prawns are great for grilling, sautéing in butter with garlic, adding to pasta, curry, salads, or skewers, and pair well with citrus, chili, and herbs. They should be stored chilled (0–2°C) and used within 1–2 days or frozen (-18°C) for a maximum of 3 months; thaw slowly in the refrigerator and do not refreeze.
