Vegetable butter
Description
Plant-based butter is a creamy, easily spreadable product with a color ranging from light cream to pale yellow, with a neutral or slightly nutty flavor depending on the oils and additives used. It has a smooth consistency similar to traditional butter, often enriched with emulsifiers, salt, or natural flavors. Nutritionally, it is a concentrated source of fat, usually rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, and free of cholesterol, often also fortified with vitamins A and D and B12 in vegan versions. By choosing products without trans fats and with oils that have a favorable fatty acid profile, one can reduce the intake of saturated fats in the diet and support heart health. Plant-based butter works well as a spread, an addition to baking, sauces, and gentle frying; for high-temperature dishes, it is advisable to choose variants with a higher smoke point. It should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container to maintain freshness, while for everyday spreading, it can be kept for a short time at room temperature.
