Coconut milk (thick)
Description
Thick coconut milk is a creamy, white-cream liquid with an intense coconut aroma and a mildly sweet, full flavor. It has a smooth, silky texture that may separate into thick cream and water when left to stand; it's a good idea to mix it before use. Nutritionally, it is rich in calories and saturated fats (mainly lauric acid), providing small amounts of protein and carbohydrates, as well as minerals such as manganese, copper, and iron. It is naturally lactose-free and suitable for plant-based diets, but it should be used in moderation. In the kitchen, it works well in curries, soups, sauces, desserts, smoothies, and baked goods, adding creaminess and flavor. Once opened, store in the refrigerator in a closed container and use within 3–5 days; it can also be frozen in portions.
