Whole grain mustard
Description
Whole grain mustard is a thick, grainy emulsion with visible, slightly crunchy mustard seeds, a golden-brown color, and a distinct, spicy-hot flavor with a slightly malty and nutty note. The texture is both grainy and creamy, which adds texture to dishes and subtly softens the heat compared to smooth mustard. Nutritionally, it is low in calories and low in fat, while providing fiber, plant protein, trace elements such as magnesium, iron, and selenium, as well as natural antioxidants and phytochemical compounds from mustard. In the kitchen, it works well as an addition to sandwiches, sauces, dressings, marinades, and glazes for meats, pairing excellently with cheeses, cold cuts, and roasted vegetables. Once opened, it should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight jar, away from light and moisture; with proper storage, it retains freshness for several months.
