Skewers / cocktail sticks
Description
Skewers and cocktail sticks are neutral-flavored kitchen accessories, usually made from bamboo or metal. Wooden ones are thin, smooth, and light, and can impart a subtle, slightly oaky aroma when grilled, while metal ones come in the form of simple rods or loops and have a shiny, durable finish. As an edible product, they do not provide nutritional value — they do not deliver calories or nutrients, but they play an important hygienic and practical role, facilitating portioning, reducing direct hand contact with food, and contributing to the aesthetics of serving; wooden versions are also biodegradable. Skewers are great for meat and vegetable kebabs, fruits, cheese bites, and appetizers, or as stirrers and decorations in drinks. Before grilling, it is advisable to soak wooden skewers for 20–30 minutes to prevent burning. Metal skewers should be washed and dried after use, while wooden ones should be stored in a dry, cool place, in their original packaging, away from moisture and pests.
