Instant oats
Description
Instant oats are small, slightly overcooked flakes with a light beige color and a delicate, slightly nutty flavor. They have a soft, creamy texture after a short cooking time or when soaked in hot water, making them a convenient ingredient for quick breakfasts. They are a source of whole grains, soluble beta-glucan fiber, plant protein, as well as B vitamins and minerals such as magnesium and iron; regular consumption supports feelings of fullness, regulates cholesterol and glucose levels, and positively affects gut health. In the kitchen, they are perfect for hot and cold oatmeal (overnight oats), smoothies, pancakes, cookies, energy bars, and as an addition to breading or stuffing. They should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from moisture and odors; storing them in the fridge or freezer will extend their shelf life and prevent the appearance of bugs.
