Coconut flakes (for coating)
Description
Desiccated coconut for coating is made of fine, white or slightly creamy flakes of coconut flesh with a mildly sweet, nutty aroma and a pleasant, crunchy texture when toasted. They give dishes an exotic scent and subtle creaminess, while also creating an attractive, golden crust after cooking. They are rich in medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), fiber, and minerals such as manganese, copper, and iron, which support energy metabolism, feelings of fullness, and bone health. Due to their high caloric content, it is advisable to use them in moderation. In the kitchen, they are perfect for coating desserts (balls, bars), cakes, fish, and poultry before frying, as well as for sprinkling on yogurts, salads, or muesli. Store the flakes in an airtight container in a cool, dry place; for longer freshness, place them in the refrigerator or freezer and protect them from moisture and strong odors.
