Prepare your workspace: set up a medium bowl or wide glass, a mixing spoon, a small plate, and a cutting board. Measure 300 ml of kefir using a measuring cup or fill a clean bottle to mark the level. Weigh 50 g of oats on a kitchen scale and set it next to the kefir.

Use a glass bowl or a large jar — it will be easier to mix and later take the drink to go. If you don't have a scale, 50 g of flakes is about 5 tablespoons.

Wash the strawberries under cold running water, dry them on a towel. Remove the stems and cut the fruit into small pieces — cubes about 5 mm will ensure they evenly release their flavor into the kefir. If you are not using strawberries, skip this step.

Use a sharp knife and a cutting board to avoid crushing the fruits. If you want a more intense flavor, mash half of the strawberries with a fork into a puree.

Pour 50 g of oats into a bowl, add 300 ml of kefir. Stir vigorously for 30 seconds with a spoon to ensure the oats are evenly soaked in the kefir. After mixing, let it sit for 3–5 minutes until the oats soften and the drink thickens. The desired result: the oats should be soft on the outside but retain a slight structure — the drink thickens but should not be completely runny.

Use a spoon or a silicone spatula. If you want a creamier consistency, you can blend everything with a blender for 10–15 seconds. Do not leave it for too long (over 12 hours) if you don't want very soggy flakes.

Add the chopped strawberries to a bowl and gently mix so the fruit doesn't break apart completely. If you want a sweeter drink, add 1 teaspoon (5 g) of honey and mix again until dissolved. Taste and adjust with more honey or add more strawberries if needed.

If you are using honey, you can first dissolve it in a spoonful of warm kefir, then add it to the mixture — this makes it easier to mix. Additionally, you can add chopped nuts for crunch (optional).

Serve immediately in a glass or transfer to a jar with a lid if you're taking it to go. You can decorate it with half a strawberry on the rim of the container. The drink tastes best chilled.
