Description

A refreshing fruit cocktail is a smooth, creamy drink that combines the sweetness of mango and banana with the tart-sweet note of strawberries and freshly squeezed orange juice. Perfect for New Year's Eve 2025 as a non-alcoholic welcome drink (prosecco can be optionally added when serving for adults). The cocktail has an intense, natural color, a thick velvety texture, and a fresh mint aroma as decoration. It tastes great served chilled in tall glasses with crushed ice — it pairs well with finger food, fruit platters, and ice desserts. Its advantages are the simplicity of preparation and high vitamin content from the fruits, while also being versatile — it can be easily modified (more juice for a thinner consistency, more yogurt for creaminess).

Preparation steps

Preparation of ingredients

1

Wash and dry the strawberries under running, cool water. Remove the stems with a knife or a special tool; cut larger strawberries in half. Peel the mango with a knife: cut alongside the large pit (on both sides of the pit), remove the skin with a knife or scoop it out with a spoon and dice the flesh. Peel the banana and slice it.

Ingredients: Strawberries, Mango (pulp), Banana
Use a cutting board and a sharp kitchen knife. A large spoon is useful for peeling mango (you can scoop out the flesh), and a small knife is good for the stems of strawberries. Avoid chopping into very small pieces; leave pieces about 1-2 cm, which the blender can easily break down.
2

Measure all the liquid ingredients: pour the orange juice and natural yogurt into a measuring cup. Prepare the honey in a small bowl (this will make it easier to add evenly). Also prepare crushed ice in a separate container.

Ingredients: Orange juice (freshly squeezed or 100%), Natural yogurt, Honey, Crushed ice
Use a measuring cup or a measuring jug (preferably 500 ml). If the honey is thick, dip the bowl in warm water for a moment to thin it out and make it flow more easily.

Blending

3

In the blender jar, first add the chopped fruits (mango, strawberries, banana), then add yogurt and orange juice along with 30 g of honey. Finally, add 100 g of crushed ice (you will leave the rest for serving). Close the blender and blend on medium-high speed for 60-90 seconds until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If the blender has a pulse function, start with 3-4 pulses, then blend continuously. If the smoothie is too thick, add 30-60 ml of juice or water and blend for another 10-15 seconds; if it's too thin, add more mango or ice in increments of 20 g at a time.

Ingredients: Mango (pulp), Strawberries, Banana, Natural yogurt, Orange juice (freshly squeezed or 100%), Honey, Crushed ice
Use a countertop blender with a minimum power of 600 W or an immersion blender with a tall container. If the blender has limited power, blend for a shorter time and mix in intervals, scraping down any unblended pieces from the sides with a spatula. Do not blend for more than 2 minutes without breaks (it may overheat). The mixture should be smooth, with no visible pieces of fruit; the consistency resembles a thick milkshake.

Seasoning and consistency

4

Taste the cocktail with a spoon. If you need more sweetness, add 5-10 g of honey to taste and mix briefly (10-15 s). If you want a more tangy flavor, add 5-10 ml of lemon juice and mix again. The consistency should be thick but pourable — similar to a smoothie.

Ingredients: Honey, Orange juice (freshly squeezed or 100%)
Try gradually — it's easier to sweeten than to dilute later. Use a tasting spoon or a small teaspoon for sampling. If you are using frozen fruit, add more juice, as frozen fruit thickens the smoothie.

Preparing the glass

5

Prepare tall glasses or cups: fill them halfway with crushed ice (about 20-30 g per glass). Place a sprig of fresh mint and a thin slice of orange for decoration (optional) next to each glass.

Ingredients: Crushed ice, Fresh mint
The best are highball glasses or cocktail glasses. Crushed ice can be made in a blender or by breaking the cubes in a kitchen towel and pressing them with a muddler.

Serving

6

Pour the cocktail into the prepared glasses, filling them up to 3/4 full. If you are serving the alcoholic version for New Year's Eve, top each glass with 25 ml of prosecco just before serving (gently pour down the side to preserve the bubbles). Garnish with a sprig of mint and a slice of orange on the rim of the glass.

Ingredients: Prosecco (optional, for topping), Fresh mint, Crushed ice
If you are adding prosecco, do it at the end, just before serving — do not mix with prosecco, as it will lose its bubbles. Additionally, you can add a few chia seeds (optional) for texture, but remember that they will swell after a few minutes.

Serving

7

Serve the cocktail immediately after preparation, preferably very chilled. During the New Year's Eve party, place the cocktail in a cool spot or in a container with ice to maintain its temperature before serving it to guests.

The cocktail tastes best right away — after some time, the fruits may sink and separate from the liquid. If you need to store it for a short while, stir again before pouring.

Fun Fact

💡

Fruit cocktails (smoothies) gained popularity in the USA in the 20th century as quick, healthy breakfast drinks; combining exotic fruits (e.g., mango) with local berries is a modern variation of this tradition.

Tips

🍽️ Serving

Serve in tall, chilled glasses with a thick straw. For decoration, use a slice of orange, a mint leaf, and optionally, raspberries on a toothpick. For the adult version, top with prosecco or add a splash of fruit liqueur (e.g., 15 ml).

🥡 Storage

The cocktail is best consumed immediately. It can be stored in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed pitcher for up to 12 hours — mix well before serving. Do not freeze the prepared cocktail, as the texture will separate after thawing.
