Dark cocoa

🌱 Vegetarian 🌿 Vegan

Description

Dark cocoa is a fine, intensely chocolate powder with a deep, bitter note and a dark brown color, which provides a distinct cocoa aroma without sweetness. Its flavor is more intense than light cocoa, with noticeable roasted notes and a slightly fruity-bitter lightness, making it a good balance for sweet baked goods. Nutritionally, dark cocoa is a source of fiber, magnesium, iron, as well as polyphenols and flavonoids with antioxidant properties; it also contains theobromine and small amounts of caffeine. Regular, moderate consumption may support heart health, the circulatory system, and improve mood. In the kitchen, it works well in cakes, brownies, creams, drinks, smoothies, sauces, and marinades, where a deep chocolate base is needed. Store in an airtight container, in a cool, dry, and dark place, away from direct light and moisture; an opened package usually stays fresh for up to a year.
