Instant yeast
Description
Instant yeast is a fine, beige granule with a delicate, "bready" aroma and a mild, slightly sweet taste, which adds characteristic fluffiness and depth of flavor to baked goods. As a yeast product, it provides protein, B vitamins (especially B1, B2, B3, and B6), minerals, and trace amounts of selenium; with moderate consumption, it supports energy metabolism and the health of the nervous system, although it provides very few calories on its own. In the kitchen, instant yeast is versatile: it works well in breads, rolls, pizza, yeast cakes, and anywhere quick and reliable fermentation is needed, as it can be added directly to the flour. It should be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, and after opening, it is best kept in the refrigerator to maintain its activity and shelf life.
