Mielona gałka muszkatołowa
Description
Ground nutmeg is a fine, beige-brown powder with a warm, intense aroma that combines sweet-nutty, slightly spicy, and balsamic notes. The flavor is pronounced, gently spicy, and sweet at the same time, so just a pinch is enough to add depth to a dish. Nutritionally, it is present in trace amounts, providing antioxidants and minerals such as manganese and copper; it is traditionally used as an aid for digestion and has anti-inflammatory properties. However, it should be used sparingly, as large doses can be toxic (due to myristicin). Ground nutmeg pairs well with both sweet and savory dishes — desserts, creams, béchamel sauces, mashed potatoes, pumpkin dishes, meat ragù, and spice blends. Store in a sealed, dark, and cool place; it is best to buy whole nuts and grind them as needed, as ground nutmeg quickly loses its aroma (ideally used within a few months).
