Cottage cheese
Description
Cottage cheese is a fresh white cheese with a delicate, slightly grainy texture and a subtle, slightly sour taste, which can be creamy or more crumbly depending on the fat content. It comes in low-fat, semi-fat, and full-fat versions, easily combining with other ingredients and taking on both savory and sweet flavors. It is a valuable source of high-quality protein, calcium, and B vitamins, supporting muscles, bones, and energy metabolism; lower-fat versions have fewer calories, while fattier ones provide more fat-soluble vitamins. Cottage cheese is great as a base for spreads, filling for dumplings and pancakes, for cheesecakes, as well as in salads and sandwiches. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container at a temperature of 2–5°C and consume within a few days of opening; it can also be frozen, keeping in mind that the texture may change slightly after thawing.
