Cranberry juice
Description
Cranberry juice has an intense, deep red color and a distinctly sour-tart, slightly astringent taste; in sweetened versions, it noticeably gains sweetness, but the typical note of acidity remains detectable. The consistency ranges from clear to slightly cloudy thick, depending on the concentrate and the presence of pulp. It is a source of vitamin C, antioxidant compounds (proanthocyanidins), and minerals like potassium, and unsweetened juice has relatively low calorie content. Regular consumption may support urinary tract health and have anti-inflammatory and protective effects on blood vessels, although many commercial juices contain added sugar, which limits the benefits. In the kitchen, it pairs well with drinks, cocktails, and beverages, as a base for sauces, glazes for meats and game, an addition to salads, as well as for baking and marinades. It should be stored in a cool place before opening; after opening, it should be kept in the refrigerator in a tightly sealed bottle and used within a few days to two weeks, and for longer storage, it can be frozen in portions.
