Description

Refreshing pear smoothie with yogurt combines Polish simplicity and modern lightness: ripe pear adds creamy sweetness, natural yogurt brings a gentle acidity and smooth texture, while lemon juice adds freshness. The smoothie works great as a healthy breakfast, afternoon snack, or light dessert in the summer. It looks aesthetically pleasing served in tall glasses with a mint leaf — a creamy color with a greenish accent. Preparation is quick and easy, even for someone using a blender for the first time; I describe each step in detail, from choosing the fruit to blending and serving.

Preparation steps

1

Prepare your workspace: cutting board, sharp knife, measuring cup or measuring jug, blender (minimum 600 ml), and 2 tall glasses. Wash the pears and mint thoroughly under running water.

Ingredients: Pear, mint
Use a jug blender; if you don't have a blender, use an immersion blender in a tall container. A cutting board and a sharp knife will make peeling and chopping the pears easier.
2

Peel the pears if the skin is tough or if you have concerns about pesticides; if the skin is thin and the pear is organic, you can leave it on. Cut each pear in half, remove the core using a spoon or knife, and then cut the flesh into larger pieces (about 2–3 cm). This should take about 3–4 minutes.

Ingredients: Pear
Use a sharp knife, hold the pear steady, and cut slowly. If the pear is very soft, work gently to avoid crushing the flesh.
3

Squeeze the juice from the lemon: cut the lemon in half and squeeze about 30 g of juice (about half a lemon) into a small bowl or directly into a measuring jug. The juice adds freshness and protects the color of the cocktail.

Ingredients: Lemon
If you want to measure accurately, use a teaspoon — 30 g is about 2 teaspoons of juice. Remove any seeds.
4

Into the blender, place the chopped pears (360 g), pour in the natural yogurt (300 g) and milk (100 ml). Add the lemon juice (30 g). If you are using honey, add it now (30 g). Cover the blender and close the lid.

Ingredients: Pear, Natural yogurt, Milk, Lemon, Honey
Add the ingredients gradually — first the yogurt and liquids, then the harder pieces of fruit, which will make blending easier. Make sure the lid is tightly closed to prevent splattering.
5

Blend on medium to high speed for 45–60 seconds until the smoothie is smooth and free of visible fruit pieces. If the consistency is too thick, add 10 ml of milk and blend for 10 seconds until the desired thickness is achieved. The smoothie is ready when it has a silky texture and a creamy color.

Ingredients: Pear, Natural yogurt, Milk, Honey
Use pulsing at the beginning to break up larger pieces, then switch to continuous blending. If you don't have a blender, use an immersion blender in a tall container for 60–90 seconds.
6

Try the cocktail: if needed, sweeten with an additional teaspoon of honey (about 10–15 g) or drizzle with lemon juice to add acidity. Pour the cocktail into two tall glasses.

Ingredients: Honey, Lemon, Natural yogurt
Add honey gradually — it's easier to sweeten than to take sweetness away. If the cocktail seems too sour, add a bit of yogurt or honey.
7

Garnish: place a few fresh mint leaves on top (optional) and serve immediately to keep the cocktail's fresh color and flavor. You can also add a slice of lemon to the rim of the glass as decoration.

Ingredients: mint
Additionally, you can add a mint leaf to enhance the flavor and aroma. Use short sprigs of mint — pinch them with your fingers just before serving to release the fragrance.

Fun Fact

💡

Pears have been cultivated in Europe since ancient times and often appear in Polish cuisine paired with cream or cheeses. The yogurt cocktail combines this traditional fruit with a modern, light approach to desserts and drinks.

Tips

🍽️ Serving

Serve chilled, preferably immediately after preparation. Add ice cubes or thinly sliced pear to the glass. For a 'to-go' version, pour into a bottle and chill in the refrigerator before heading out.

🥡 Storage

The cocktail is best consumed immediately after preparation. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Before serving, mix well — the cocktail may separate slightly. Freezing is not recommended, as the yogurt will change its creaminess after thawing.
